BT joins The Joint Audit Cooperation (JAC) to promote collaboration and sustainability implementation in the ICT supply chain globally

BT joins the Joint Audit Cooperation (JAC) of telecommunication operators, which conduct and share corporate social responsibility (CSR) audits across ICT suppliers. Collaboration between the largest operators promotes sustainable sourcing globally.

JAC aims to verify, assess and develop the implementation of corporate social responsibility across the manufacturing centres of important multinational suppliers of the ICT industry. JAC members share resources and best practices to develop long term CSR implementation in the ICT supply chain at an international level.

Since its foundation JAC members have conducted over 675 audits in 41 countries. Collaboration has significantly increased the number of audits and increased corrective actions, driving a higher CSR standard across the supply chain.

“This year, we spent around £13.1bn with more than 1,100 direct suppliers in nearly 100 countries. Understanding our impact on the environment, understanding our impact on society, is key”, says Cyril Pourrat, Chief Procurement Officer at BT Group.

“BT Group has launched a new business-wide plan to focus and accelerate its efforts to build a better business for its customers, the economy and society at large. Ensuring BT’s growth is responsible, inclusive, and sustainable, the new BT Group Manifesto outlines the action the business is taking, and the measurable commitments it has put in place, to create greater impact with a clear commercial agenda. We’re committed to taking a responsible approach to tech and respecting the human rights and freedoms of all those touched by our business – our colleagues, customers, supply chain workers and wider communities.”

The Joint Audit Cooperation was founded in 2010 by Deutsche Telekom, France Telecom and Telecom Italia. Currently, the association encompasses a total of 18 Telecom Operators: AT&T, BT, Deutsche Telekom, Elisa, KPN, MTC, MTN, Orange, Proximus, Swisscom, TDC,  Telecom Italia, Telefónica, Telenor, Telia Company, Telstra, , Verizon and Vodafone.
