May 2025: KDDI has joined the Joint Alliance for CSR (JAC) to promote collaboration and sustainability in the global ICT supply chain.
KDDI is the latest global telecoms operator to join the Joint Alliance for CSR (JAC). As a member of JAC, KDDI will collaborate with the world’s largest telco providers, conducting and sharing CSR audit reports of major suppliers. With the aim of promoting sustainable sourcing, JAC members share audit data, resources and best practices to verify, assess and develop sustainable sourcing principles for suppliers of the telco sector.
JAC aims to verify, assess and develop the corporate social responsibility implementation across the manufacturing centres of important multinational suppliers of the ICT industry. The members share resources and best practices to develop long term CSR implementation in the ICT supply chain at international level.
In 2024, JAC members carried out 150 audits and surveys, engaged 917 suppliers as part of the Supplier Engagement Programme with the goal of building carbon reduction capacity and capability and are working directly with 44 suppliers who have the greatest impact on members’ Scope 3 carbon footprints.
Takashi Miyajima, Chief Procurement Officer at KDDI, said: “KDDI Corporation (Headquarters: Chiyoda, Tokyo; President: Hiromichi Matsuda) is pleased to announce its membership in the Joint Alliance for CSR (JAC), enhancing our collaboration with suppliers worldwide. To address social issues such as respect for human rights and climate change in the supply chain, we will establish sustainable procurement standards and actively promote improvements. In particular, we will support our suppliers in their efforts to enhance sustainability, contributing to the realization of a sustainable society by bolstering their CSR activities. We expect that our initiatives will help establish a safe and secure supply chain, thereby contributing to a better future.”
