T-Mobile Netherlands has joined the Joint Alliance for CSR (JAC), joining forces with other telecom operators whose aim is to take sustainability beyond their own operations to the activities of their supply chain. JAC conducts Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) audits across the telecoms ICT suppliers. With over seven million clients on the Dutch market, T-Mobile Netherlands’ entry to JAC marks another important moment for the organisation as collaboration between operators at scale promotes sustainable sourcing globally.
JAC aims to verify, assess, develop and implement CSR best practice across the manufacturing centres of key multinational suppliers of the telecoms industry. Members share resources and best practices to ensure continual CSR improvement across supply chain at a global level.
Since its inception, JAC has conducted 724 audits in 41 countries. Collaboration has resulted in a significant increase in the number of audits and corrective actions, driving improved CSR performance, improved working conditions for workers and a higher standard across the supply chain.
Stefan de Wit, director procurement T-Mobile Netherlands: ‘’As one of the largest telecom providers in the Netherlands, we feel responsible for the people and the world around us. It starts with our own business operations. We want to make our processes as sustainable and future-proof as possible. We want to take responsibility throughout the value chain, including at production sites. That is why we have joined JAC. By doing so, we contribute to a coordinated approach in the chain in terms of due diligence documents, on-site audits and improvement plans. We share knowledge with other operators within JAC to bring change to the value chain.’’
The Joint Audit Cooperation was founded in 2010 by Deutsche Telekom, France Telecom and Telecom Italia. Currently, the association encompasses a total of 22 Telecom Operators: Airtel Africa, AT&T, Bouygues Telecom, BT, Deutsche Telekom, Elisa, KPN, MTC, MTS, Orange, Proximus, Spark, Swisscom, Telecom Italia, T-Mobile Netherlands, TDC, Telefónica, Telenor, Telia Company, Telstra, Verizon and Vodafone.
